She is a blake australorp and has been laying for a couple of weeks and has went broody. Dont know if she will stick to it or not though. She only has 5 eggs under her so i am thinking about adding more eggs today. How many should she be able to cover?

She can probably cover a dozen. However I would avoid adding too many times to a nest she is already sitting on, as their due dates will all be different. She will likely abandon the nest once the original eggs have hatched, leaving you with some almost-ready eggs to incubate yourself.

Thanks. I wound up with 11 under her. I was only going to add eggs on the second day, but wanted to know how many more to add. I only ended up with 6 eggs today so they went under. Here's hoping for babies in a few weeks

I am just curious, did you add eggs from other Black Australorps, or did you add eggs from other breeds?
