I just returned from Ideal with 11 peeps. They are all eating, drinking and hopping around like mad. I had no idea they would be so active. Fingers crossed that they all thrive. I had Ideal mark the different breeds, hence the ink marks. One of the Ameraucanas looks like a chipmunk with the striped back.

I am SO jealous! I wish I could find a nearby hatchery to visit, instead of relying on what the local feed stores order, or ordering by mail.....

But I'd probably pick up pocketsful of chicks.

It's hard enough to resist chicks of breeds I don't want at the feed stores. And Chick Season starts TOMORROW at my fav feed store.

But to be able to go to a HATCHERY and select fuzzbutts! WOW........

O... I am SO glad I DONT live next to a hatchery! I would be like their obcessive client who never leaves! And i would have WAY too many chickens (if thats possible).
Your fuzzies are way too cute - and lol with the ink markings!

Well, you can't browse the racks. I still had to call and order them ahead of time, and go to the office and they handed me a box 'o peeps. I'm fortunate to not have to have them shipped. I was worried that they would get cold in the truck on the way home, so I had the heat cranked up. They were getting noisy, so I thought they might be cold. But when I opened the box to check, they were panting! Thank God, I was able to turn the heat down. I was sweating!

OH MY GOSH>>>THE CUTENESS OVERLOAD!!! I am getting all those chicks PLUS lots more from Ideal to be shipped March 10 I can't wait! Very cute fuzzy butts ya got there

And after looking closer at your pics.....

I just picked up mine from the hatchery (in ca)....they were super nice. The husband was showing me the different breeds and said he marked the Leghorns becuase some of them look like the Americaunas. But he also showed me their legs were different colors....

I just figured out what he meant by marking them......they have on orange spot on their head, like in your pics. I'll bet he did that so he didn't have to pick them up to look at their legs while he was sorting them.

Cute chickies!!!
