The first one of my Polish Chickens has hatched.
It's not the one I expected to hatch (the one who first pipped last night as I set them in lockdown.)
You can see the first pipped egg near the one that's zipping:
The one that zipped popped out:
And left this behind:
Here he or she is resting on a neighbor:
Soo.....this is my first hatch ever and it's quite an event.
This chick is thrashing all about, rolling all the other eggs. I hope that's expected and not terrible? Hopefully it'll turn that one brown guinea egg in there because I haven't done it since locking down last night for fear of disrupting the humidity. Speaking of the humidity - it all looks to be pretty good - especially since I didn't check the temperature other than the first couple days or the humidity at all during the incubation.
While I was watching this one, two more eggs pipped - and now there are several pippers.
I suppose I should go set up the brooder!! How long before I move the chick? Thanks!
