My first chicken I bought myself

I’m very happy! I live in and help with my mum with show chicken breeding of Pekins, Orpington’s, and frizzle Pekins but I had never bought a chicken myself at an auction, it was always her buying. But that changed at my most recent local auction!
I found this sweet cuckoo pekin rooster, he was going for $2 and nobody was bidding on him!
And when I saw him it was love at first sight!
I ended up buying him for $10 as somebody placed a $3 bid above my $2 and I didn’t want to end up in a bidding war so I scared them off with a $10 bid.
He is very shy but it’s slowly warming up to me with the help of many treats! Do you guys also have any advice to help a rooster like him warm up to me?
I’ve attached a photo of my sweet boy who I named Nebula and his frizzle pekin gf Astra!

Thank you for the advice! He really is a handsome boy and I adore him! 🥰
And he’s loving the life with Astra, as when I see them they are just waltzing around together hunting bugs!
I will be sure to make use of y'all's advice!

They really are fun! And also it’s a great way to meet other chicken owners in your community!
I love poultry auctions
Unfortunately between back with covid and then the bird flu the 3 in driving distance here have long shut down.
I miss them but still go to different types of auctions every once in a while.
Ya the whole meeting other poultry people and even just seeing the different birds I miss but I enjoy the bidding too.
Trying to read other bidders while keeping them from reading you and yes at times just needing to shut them down in a hurry. Love the rush. 🤣
