So I learned a valuable lesson today. Don't leave string or rope where chickens can access it easily. There was a small section of rope left on the dog crate from when I had the brooder lamp hanging and I guess they played with it until it unraveled a bunch. When I went to let them out after the hens finished laying, they all ran/flew out in a crazy rush as usual...all but one. Poor Olive caught her toe on the string and tripped flat when she tried to run with the others. I quickly ran in for scissors to cut her loose and luckily she didn't hurt herself while she was panicking. Just a little scrape on her face. Scared the crap out of me though. It was wrapped pretty tight around one of her toes, I feel really lucky that I got there quick enough and that she didn't break her leg trying to free herself. I will definitely be more careful in the future!
