My First Chicks (pics)

I elevate the waterer on a block of wood. Keeps the shavings/straw from getting kicked into it and soaking up all of the water.

We use pine pellets, and had the same problem with the water...I propped the waterer up on an upside down terra cotta saucer which is placed on an upside down base to a big waterer. That raised it up high enough out of the pellets but low enough that they can still hop up. WHEW!
 
Here are pics of my RIR's when they were babies and the other pic of the babies was taken around christmas. My how they grew. The hens are in another run on the other side as they were bullying the pullets. So I let them take turns in the yard at the time.
