My first Doomsday baby has hatched!

Melonboi, I ordered my incubator, egg turner and hygrometer from Incubatorwarehouse.com. The hygrometer works fine, the incubator is a bit debatable though.

The second baby has hatched and both are doing well. I don't think the rest of the eggs will hatch though. My (then) 13 week old roo is the daddy and I thought I was getting some fertile eggs so I threw 12 in the incubator to see. Three didn't develop and the rest I can't see through when I candle them because they are Olive Egger/EE mixed and the shells are too dark.

My daughter wants to name them Earthquake and Tsunami, since that is some of the things predicted for 12/21/12.

Meet Earthquake and Tsunami. EQ is a Barred Rock/EE mix and I'm not sure what Tsunami is but I know his daddy is a white EE. If you look in my avatar at the basket of eggs, he came from the dark brown speckled egg. I think Mama is an Olive Egger.

Thank you for the reply. I love those names. It has been a little over 20 years since I have hatched anything. I used to raise chickens and quail and have also hatched Turkeys and Ducks. I'm in the process of building a coop and run for some chickens and I think I will try a few button quail, they are so darn cute. I am going to adopt 6 two year old hens from a friend who no longer wants to mess with them but am building a large enough space to house three times that many as I want to hatch and raise some babies of my own.

Oh no Sally, sorry to hear that about your roo.

I picked up five day old Australorps and two Easter Eggers today. Earthquake didn't know what to make of them all at first, but now they are all sleeping together.
