My girl had her first egg today. I just found out they were girls and I only had to wait a week or so and this little miracle happens. The egg itself is a light tan color and very petit. Do eggs get bigger after a while? I am so excited.......much more so than all my friends that I woke up this morning with the news. I just had to share:D

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. Congratulations! It's always so egg-citing getting that first egg.) And yes, the eggs wil get bigger over the next few weeks as the pullet matures. If you haven't done so already, definitely check out our Learning Center at https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center. There is lots of useful information there. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Cheers.

Thanks to all for sharing my eggcitement. I was just reading a chicken treat thread and someone posted that they had given their chickens leftover scrambled eggs as a treat. That's what I want......to be able to have leftover eggs. Imagine having so many eggs you can throw out the eggcess.

Extra eggs make a great treat for your chickens. Here are a lot of other healthy treats:
