Yippee!!! After I got home from work and after playing with the pooch, I went to the coop to do the chores and was cleaning out the nest boxes, going to put fresh straw in.
What do I find??? A very beautiful perfectly formed little light brown egg. I screamed in delight, so much so that my family in the house 250 feet away thought, hmmmm "she must have found an egg" I have 34 hens so not sure which one did lay the egg, they are 18 weeks old now. I have a combo of BR, WR, Buff O, Red and Black Sexlinks, RIR, SLW and Black Austalorps and EE's. So not sure which one did it. A few of the Red Sexlinks and BR have really red faces so I am thinking one of them.
I can hardly wait to get home tonight to check the boxes. The shell was strong and firm no weird texture or anything.
Life is good now...can't wait for the rest to get started.
