My First Egg Today!

Hey everyone!

I got my first egg today! EVER! I felt like a kid opening a present!

I have been getting an egg a day from a stray Amer. Game hen that is now living with us.. that is exciting too! I just got into chickens this spring.
Today I went out and she was in the box scratching around and I looked and there was an egg. So I went in and got it out and thought, huh that one's a little odd shaped, and went about my chores.. Then I stopped and realized this egg is BROWN and she lays white eggs! Then I do this:

a bit and run into show my husband.

I think it is my Australorp hen but I'm not totally sure. The red sex link and the buff are the same age but the Australorp is the only one that has been showing signs, squatting when I pet her and her comb has gotten redder.. Sooo I'm saying its hers.

Oh happy day!! Can't wait to see what happens tomorrow.

That is AWESOME and such a pretty egg too! Sadly i still have about 2 more months till i get to go out and find some like that...sooo long. Hope you get tons more from this one and the other hens!

OMG!!!!! That is soooo awesome!!!!!!

Oh I am so happy for you!!! I am kind'a tempted to set up a camera system so I can watch when my red sex-Links start to lay.. LMAO!! Well, hubby is a computer tech so it would not be a big deal to get him to do it for me, lol...

But I'm thinking I read the Australorps mature early... also why I am pretty sure it was her.
