In the Brooder
First time adding an image. Hope it works.
my first came about right on time.
The only thing I found out I was lacking was lighting in hen house so added a 60 watt light fixture and two days later an egg!
They were showing all the signs: cackling louder, investigating nest boxes, and "squatting", and following me everywhere cackling, so I knew it should be soon. Adding the extra lighting helped. Wasn't enough light in hen house, I think. They run about in run when home but keep them in coop when at work with door opened but screened to let light in. Just wasn't enough tho.
Came home to let them out and clean coop (my daily chore but love doing it) and what did I see in the corner of coop? An egg!
Going to gawk over it for a few days then see how it tastes later.
It seemed like it took forever for the first egg. Whew, glad the waiting is over.
