My first egg!

We have 4 hens and I knew one was close, my chicken mamas senses were on! lol sure enough this morning I found our first egg in the coop. We have boxes in the coop and the egg was just on top. Where they normally sit at night. Is there anything I can do to encourage them to lay in the boxes? Also how do you properly clean the eggs?!

Congrats on your first egg ... that is always exiting! We put 1 or 2 fake eggs in each nesting box and that worked for us. Heard of people using golf balls too. Never had to clean eggs so can't help you with that.
