My first egg!

Well, after replying to this yesterday, kids came in the house and said one of my hens was acting all wierd. So I went out and watched her, told them not to bother her because I thought she was getting ready to lay... I was correct... she layed my first egg... I hit my head on the roof rafter of the coop because I was so happy and jumping up and down... OUCH. This first egg thing has got to hurt a little less for my taste

And now agree with the rest of you... every 1/2 hour go check the boxes, the woods, all the hiddy holes... if there is one... there has to be more

Sounds like my husband when he found our first egg. I had just got out of the hospital a few days before and was sitting in a chair attempting to weed my garden that everyone "accidently" forgot to do while I was gone (yeah, right, sure, uh huh). He started screaming "Julie, Julie, Julie, come here quick! I thought something was seriously wrong with one of the chickens. Before I could even get out of the chair, he was running out the chicken door and cleared the steps. Underdog has nothing on him. I am glad he has calmed down somewhat, however the first thing out of his mouth when he comes home from work is "how many eggs did we get today?" One of these days I'm going to say "none, now how bout a kiss?"

Oh, thank goodness I'm not the only "pathetic" one! We're up to egg # 2 now.

I do need to think of something "fun" to do with these . . .it's like framing your first dollar bill! They would make awfully perfect "crack-open"(i.e. sunny side up) eggs for my 2 and 5 yos breakfasts!!!
