ok good to know, thanks. I am excited how its going to go...
I found a "soft" egg later the same day, but nothing today. I read that soft eggs can happen when they first start laying, they should though have enough calcium via loads of green vegetables, grit/sand thats always available for them and their dry staple diet mix from the wholesale.
There is so little light here at the moment ( 6 hours) , beat me how they start laying now

My chicken just started laying about a week ago and she still has soft eggs too. Don't worry, soft eggs are normal

Mine just started laying and they're also about 6 months, its very exciting and yours are beautiful! Mine are pretty regular early morning layers, I know this because when I check on them around midnight there's nothing, and in the morning they appear! I would say they seem to have a regular time, so once you are able to approximate that, you should be able to check then and get it done!

Also egg production usually isn't very consistent when they begin laying... just fyi They should lay in or around the same area though!
