MY FIRST EGG!

On Christmas Eve! What a great present she left me. Of course out of 11. I'm not sure who laid it, but here it is!!!

I have a standard Large Grade A egg in there to show the size!

I thought the first ones would be little!

The green one? Wow, that is a big one! What kind of pullets do you have? Anyway, Congrats! What a Christmas present.

Congrats! You know, my entire original flock of ten started out laying normal sized eggs. Never saw a small pullet egg till the "Second Wave" of girls I hatched. Now, they tend to lay small eggs for months before they get larger, for some reason.... Another thing to blame on the weird weather phenomenons and/or the earth's tilt changing, LOL.

I have since gotten 2 more (very small) eggs.

However, we cracked the first open to eat and it had a double yolk!!!!! How cool is that to get with a first egg!?

Does that happen often?

I certainly would think that a double yoker on a first egg would be unusual, but I'm no expert. I thought when i saw the pic that it could easily be a double yoker. Bet she was glad to get that one laid.
