Yes it's very common for them to lay where another did.
It's UNCOMMON for pullets without adult hens around to lay in a nest box for first eggs. You should be very proud of your young ladies!

My husband says you should put their name on each nest box. Then they will know where to lay.

I am in the process of doing that and decorating the coop. Thank you

How exciting! How old are your pullets? Mine hatched 3/9....I'm impatiently waiting

I purchased mine on 3/3/2023. I have 9 chickens. Only 5 are laying the other 4 should in the next 4 weeks.

3/3/2023 I purchased 9 pullets. 5 of them just laid 1st egg on 7/11/2023. The other 4 should in the next 4 week. The 5 that are laying now are 2 buff orpingtons, 2 golden comets, 1 ISA brown. The other 4 are 2 ameraucanas, 2 starlight green eggers. I can't wait for my blue and green eggs.

Congrats! And yep, you can have boxes for each of them and chances are they'll still want the same one!
