New chicken mom here. The Covid crisis led me to cope with falling headlong into learning about chickens. I had wanted them for many years. Being stuck alone at home meant it was finally time.

I have 10 girls: Barred Rock (2) , Easter Eggers (2), Welsummer (2) (now at 7 months old) Cream Legbar, Bielefelder, Appenzeller Spitzhauben, 55 Flowery Hen (one each 18 and 16 weeks)

The girls are so joyful, so funny, so frustrating, so smart. It takes me out of my comfort zone and challenges me to learn by doing daily.

My hobbies include art, writing, dance, yoga, cooking, travel ( not so much at present...lol)

Its just me and my 11 year old dog Clarence. I’m now teaching remotely and the girls are the only thing really that’s keeping me sane and moving forward

This site gave me most of my research at the beginning of this journey. Summer was easy…now I face a lot of questions and lessons. I just don’t want my flock to suffer for my lack of experience and knowledge.
