I'm just thrilled, I got my first goose egg yesterday. I didn't check yesterday but my goose kept going back to the area I found the egg in today so I figured she was keeping and eye on her egg. Well today there was another egg about 2 feet from the first egg. I have 2 toulouse hens and I don't know if they both are laying or if one laid both eggs. One egg is snow white and one is sort of a cream color.
We put an x-large dog house with straw in it under the wagon where the eggs are and put the eggs in it. Hopefully they will go in it and start laying there. What do you all think? Should I have left the eggs where they were? Another thing to is the eggs don't seem all that big to me. My pekin duck lays eggs as large as they are when she is laying. Could they be small for (goose eggs) bscause this is their first eggs. The girls are 8 months old. The daddy (if there are babies) is an 11 month old pilgrim.
I'm so excited.

Hopefully she will lay in the crate now that you put the eggs in it, and when they first start to lay the eggs will be small then get larger.
and from all I've read the first ones aren't usually fertile. You might want to sneak out their and mark them so if she continues to lay you can take out the first 3-4 someone else could give you better number, but that way she is only laying on fertile eggs hopefully. If she starts to sit that is. I set up a crate for my Muscovies to lay their eggs in and put a few in there, now my chickens are laying in it and my muscovies have chosen a differnet place to lay. ya never know. Congrats and keep us updated on how it all goes..

I got another egg today. She layed in the nest I made for her. It was raining so hard I could'nt see if there was more than 3. I hope she knows what to do when the time comes to start setting. I know I'm kinda rushing it but this is my first year with geese and I'm really excited.

My goose has 6 eggs now (I took the first 2 out) and she stays on the nest a lot. Since this is my first experience with geese I don't know what to expect. Is it normal for her to stay on the nest like that. The gander doesn't stay with her at all. He stays with the other goose and my other gander stays off by himself. Is she trying to set. I have read that they won't set until they lay around 16 or more eggs.
