I always had chickens growing up, but my husband and I recently bought our first house so we decided to get some chickens for the yard. My first chickens as a grown-up! It's oddly exciting, and I've been obsessively reading BYC the last week since I got them.

We always had RIR's when I was a kid so it's been interesting researching the breeds and picking out my own hens. We didn't actually end up with any RIR's!

I posted detailed pictures on my BYC page, but here's a group shot:

Wynona looks like an EE to me, but cute as a button.

Xochitl is beautiful and I haven't seen that name since I was in Ecuador over 30 years ago where Maruha Robinson of South Central Guayaquil had a little dog named Xochitl. (Pronounced Sochi)

What a nice looking bunch of chicks. I just love Buff Orps!
Good luck with your little flock!

Thanks! I bought them all from a feed store, so I didn't really expect Nona to be a straight Ameracuna (from what I hear they are mostly mixed?) As long as she lays blue/green eggs she'll earn her keep

Although being as cute as she is, I think she's probably fine either way.
