So 23 days ago a friend gave me two guinea eggs. I put them in the bator but didnt have high expectations. It was only my second hatch and got 1 out of 4 chicks the first time.Today I went out to candle them to see if they piped. I read they could hatch early. When I look in the bator window i couldn't see the eggs in the turner. They hatched!!!! So now i have two adorable keets.

some questions.
Can they live with my chicks or do they need to be brooded separately?
How can you tell the gender apart?
What age do they lay eggs?

Thanks in advance!!

I raised my 7 guineas together with 4 chickens since I picked them up from the feed store and they get along just fine. Can't tell the sexes til about 8-9 weeks and even then it is difficult, only the females make a 2 syllable sound while the males just make their one syllable screeches. Mine are 10 weeks old and have not yet laid but I have read that they can start around 16-18 weeks.

Good luck with yours!
