I have 6 eggs in the incubator and 1 didnt appear to be fertile but I left it in, so I have 5 good eggs. I locked down on Easter and today I hatched one Silkie chick so far. Two eggs rock around ever so slightly but shows no signs of an attempt to break out, a third doesnt appear to move at all but has a small outward crack mark on the side and one egg has no crack marks and is moving all over the place. My question is, how long can this little chick stay in the incubator before it will need to be take out of there? I dont want to risk loosing the other eggs by taking the chick out or risk the chick by leaving it in there too long. Advice is appreciated.

Your chick should be okay for 2-3 days after hatch without food/water, that's why hatcheries can ship out 24hour old chicks. They absorb the yolk before hatch so they have all the nutrition they need for a couple of days:) Leave the bator shut:)

You can leave the newly hatched ones in the bator for up to 3 days. The yolk they absorbed before hatching covers them for that long. Good luck with your hatch!!

I was pretty sure that it would be okay to stay in there but I wanted to double check because this is my first hatch and it wasnt covered in alot of the material I had read. I figured better ask than kick myself later!
