I recently bought 5 2-week old chicks from a very nice lady at Whiskey Creek Farms here in Kentucky. They are the cutest little blue partridge brahma's you've ever seen! As a gift, she gave me 6 hatching eggs to take home. Of course, I've never hatched an egg - so the "gift" resulted in about $100 worth of incubation items :lau

This is the incubator I bought onAmazon -https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B073XD9GZ1/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I did candling on Day 9 and all 6 eggs appear viable :ya I can see the gianormous eye, tiny embryo, and veins. I didn't get photo's as I wanted to be as quick as possible for less disrupt of humidity.

The eggs were started on April 22nd - so if my math is right, Day 21 will be on May 12th. I'll add some photo's of the incubator, do a review on it, and of course add photo's of the babies.

I've always raised chicks that were already hatched - so this is a first for me. This site has been so valuable for all the knowledge, tips, and helpful folks.

Here are pics of the incubator -

Hoping for a good hatch, by the way what are you using for beddings? And feed for your chicks?

Thanks! For hatched to 3 weeks or so, I use cracked corn for bedding on brooders in the house. It tends to not be as dusty. and with a puppy pee-pad underneath to absorb any moisture, it's easier to keep clean than the pine shavings. This is my first run trying this method - the local breeder that I got the chicks/eggs from was doing it and told me about it.

For feed, I use Purina medicated chick starter/growth until they are about 5-6 months or start laying.
