I'm simply excited, thought I'd share, plus I know I'll be needing brooding advice in a few weeks
I received 15 white/tan serama eggs in the mail about 5 days ago. I let them sit around 40 hours pointed side down, per all the advise I've googled. Then they were put into my new still-air styrofoam incubator, which I bought the auto-turner for, the eggs sit upright and are slowly rocked. I filled two of the water wells in the bottom, but the humidity gauge on the incubator only said 25%, the temp was at 101F... worry set in, but it was late, I waited till the next day. Bought two aquarium thermometers and found my two small hygrometers. They were at 70% humidity and temp 97-98F for the first 24hrs :hmm I really hope their early development wasn't goofed by it... they've been at 50-55% humidity and 100.5F since then.
Tonight was day 3, everything online says don't do it but omg the candling temptation......
Soooo, I did it lol... 12 of the 15 have fantastic little embryos, spider veins clearly visible! Only one had a saddle-air sac, and the development wasn't clear, one looks like a death ring with no clear air sac, and one looks unfertilized. 12 babies, I'm so stoked!! It's time to figure out brooding... I've only ever had chicks under my orpington Big Mama, this will be my first time playing chicken mom :jumpy:) Attached a few of the good candling pics, it's so crazy to see :p 20180814_120137.jpg 20180814_120259.jpg 20180814_120003.jpg

:thumbsup I've used a Sterilite plastic bin (34 5/8"L x 18 3/4"W x 12 5/8"H) 110qt, largest I could find for a brooder. Potty pad (not the gel ones) to line to bottom for the first week to observe their poo. For heat I use Sunbeam Heating Pad #732-500 (12" x 24") that does not have the auto turn off ... There's a thread by Blooie on the MHP, prefer the results better than a heat light. If you do decide to use a heat light, a household light bulb (40 - 60watt) is all you need, keeping it off to one side of the brooder so the chicks can move away from the heat if they get too warm.

Best Wishes with your hatch and have fun ;)
