Can anyone recommend any breeds?

I can only speak for myself, but I love Black Australorps, that's what I have. They are very docile, love to be petted, they'll sit on your lap, good layers of brown eggs, do well in cold weather, but they do tend to go broody. Which, for me, will be a blessing...doing the "brooder box" thing was almost too much for me!

Anyways, I love the breed!
