MY FIRST KEET HATCHED! MY FIRST KEET HATCHED!

Quote:
He doesn't look too terribly extra sticky to me... all my keets come out wet and gooey, they dry and fluff usually over night or if left in the hatcher all day

His toes should straighten out as he dries and gets around more, the wire helps that.... but if not, yep he'll need a tape flipper/shoe. I'd wait until he's in with the other keet and has had a drink and a few bites to eat and has bumbled around the brooder a lil while before you put something on his feet tho.

Congrats !!!!!!!!! 2 Keets !!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll wait for the boot - I think it might straighten out because sometimes it seems less curled than at others. We'll see. If I have to "give him the boot" I'll take pictures so you can make sure I did it right. Doesn't seem like rocket science but I'm such a noodle. I'm going to wait until the morning before putting him in the brooder because he's literally rolling the other eggs around which you've (thanks, Peeps) said stimulates the others to hatch. Plus, he's gaining coordination. One more night won't hurt.

Keet #1 is amazing. He runs all over the brooder and whenever there is the slightest noise he runs up under the teddy bear to hide. He eats, drinks, poops. (Do I sound like an obnoxious new mother? "Oh look - the baby passed gas!!! Isn't he just the smartest?" Sorry if I do. Well, guilty as charged and I'm NOT SORRY!" I'm so excited to have keets!)

Two more are due to hatch on Sunday, so I'm keeping my eye on them.

I can't seem to get the humidity above 71% without opening the hatcher. Should I? Should I leave it alone? I have several more days of this, if these first two eggs are an indication - - they've hatched a day late or on the hatch date. I'm afraid it will drop below 70% in the next couple of days.

Need to go get more baby pictures.....

. I quit smoking years ago, but oh man hatching is JUST AS ADDICTIVE!

Once again, I blame all you experts who at least try to take all the worry out.

(Thanks guys).

I love keets.

Two more eggs have pipped for sure, a third one I think is about to pip. Here they come!

Pics on the way! Hopefully I'll get decent videos if I can time everything right, get light into the hatcher....etc., etc.

The second keet is in the brooder with the first, and it's really cute to watch. Keet #2 is smaller than keet #1, and within an hour began following the older one around the brooder, eating and drinking. They both run up under the teddy bear. I think they're positively adorable.

Congrats, prairie and whitehorse, on all your hatches. Those hatcher shots were great! Be sure to get pictures when they're all fluffed out

Peeps, I don't know how I missed your post about upping the humidity without opening the hatcher, but I got it this morning - - after I opened the hatcher

.

But all is well, and I really appreciate - SO MUCH - all the help, advice and support from everyone. For me, the first hatch has been nerve wracking (I'm a bit high strung anyway). My second hatch will be easier on all of you, I'm sure.

I know it will be easier on me.

More eggs. I need more eggs....

Ha. After I wrote "more eggs. I need more eggs...." I realized that I also need more acreage! Yes, I'm going to end up a hatch-a-holic. I start jonesing every few minutes. We should start a support group thread. LOL. Oh, and another egg unmistably pipped. Soon I'm going to have to get a bucket.....
