Good for you! Are you butchering by yourself? Me and the DH had 26, 4 died because from lack of water on my part (solution was put more bowls of water out, so still learning) and now all I have is 3 left for tomorrow morning. I did 5 today by myself and 3 monday by myself, I'm le tired

good Lord DH would Barf and has NO part of any of it-he will feed and take care of them but the butchering is all me. I am having a huge chickenstock gathering at my house oct3rd for bycer's and well process 10-15 then and then Ill save the final 10-11 for another few weeks to fatten them up. There are different sized ones so smaller ones will stay later. Yah Ill do 3-5 alone and my back breaks when done!

This sounds like an event to us. The wife and I are thinking of taking a trip out east next year on our motorcycles. We have done a BBQ run to St. Louis MO, Memphis TN, Black Oak Arkansas , Birmingham AL, Atlanta GA, and Nashville TN. A steak run to Sturgis SD, Hewlett WY, Jackson Hole WY, Red Lodge, MT. Maybe our next run should be to NY for chicken and then on to Maine for Lobster next fall....just thinkin. We are low maintenance, camp in tents and have no fear of an outhouse, but we clean up well....

yuck!
well, I was just meaning put them out during the day so your pens don't need to be cleaned so much. I am bringing these little guys in at night after my drowning the chicks in the sprinkler incident.

mine are out all day to free range but never stary from the big coop-I do put all of them up in their cages at night-tomorrow-all day in an outside grassy run! The predators around here suck!

We had 10 of the darn stinky birds last year. After a week or so of putting them in the coop at night...they do go by themselves (at least...ours did...they free ranged most of the time).
You process your own? You're a better woman than I am.
