Hi everyone! So I’m experiencing my first molting girl and I feel awful for her! Is it normal for them to look and act sickish? She is eating and drinking and free ranging but her face looks so sick! She was the most beautiful GLW a few weeks ago and she is so unlike herself! Here she right now! Just want to know if this is normal! Cold and snow coming so I’m hoping she is almost done!

Usually during molts hens dont act as active, but as long as she is eating and drinking she should be fine and feather in a few weeks!

as far as acting sickish, mine have always acted like they feel vulnerable--staying in the run instead of venturing out into the back yard like usual. Later in the molt they seem to get their confidence back up and forage more, and/or hang out in their favorite spots in the yard instead of in the run.
