We have a muscovy hen (Wendy) who has been sitting on 9 eggs, they are due to hatch next saturday. We had a bantam chicken (Lacey) who was sitting on 4 eggs in the nest box next to Wendy, also muscovy eggs, probably from Wendy, we think she started laying in the first box, then Lacey went broody and wouldn't let her in so she moved on to the next box, sitting a week afterward. Lacey hatched two of her 4 eggs on friday. Yesterday we where gone all day, today I went out and lifted Lacey up to see the ducklings and was thinking of moving them to a secure pen with her, NO DUCKLINGS! I panicked, then remembered seeing Wendy out in the yard I figured she had gotten up to get a drink, but sure enough she had the ducklings with her. I am not sure how they got out of the next box as the holes are a good 8-10" up from the bottom of the box, or why Lacey was in the box and hadn't noticed the duck took her babies. I thought for a while, finally decided to grab the ducklings and hope that Wendy would go back to her 9 eggs. So I fought her off (that was lots of fun, catching ducklings while a muscovy hen is attached to your pant leg hissing at you). I took the babies and put them in a tub in the entry way, sure enough Wendy went back to her eggs, Lacey however got up and was causing a fuss, so I ended up bringing her inside and putting her with the ducklings. It took a while for the brownish one but now they are both happily sitting under lacey, she showed them to drink, and I gave them some bread crumbs ( I have to get some feed tonight all we had was layer feed and whole kernel corn) Im going to try to get some game bird starter, all the chick feed around here is medicated.

I will post some pictures tomorrow as i have to leave for work in five minutes. I have never had baby muscovy's one of our babies is colored like a mallard/rouen duckling what color will that be? I know easier to tell with pictures. The other one is like a smokey white color. They are adorable and I am so hoping that Wendy will hatch out most of her eggs next weekend.
Wendy is a black and white pied muscovy, the drake, big boy, is a blue muscovy, my other hen little miss is blue as well, but I don't think any of these eggs where hers. do you think the yellow one will be all white? its not all yellow seems to have a bit of a grey color to it.

Well they didn't have game bird starter at thiesens, so i ended up getting meat bird feed. Its non medicated and it says ducks on the bag. Will this be okay? I just can't belive with four feed stores and two thiesens no one carries unmedicated chick starter. They are doing good today. The yellowish one seems to have a slight grey tint in the same areas the brown and yellow one has the brown. Or maybe I am just wishful thinking since I am not a big fan of all white muscovies.
I can't wait to see what these guys look like as they get older. Wendy is back on her nest, hissing at me this morning when I was doing chores, I won't be able to see when hers hatch until she gets off the nest with them, she is not into being touched, and I don't want to bother her to much. Saturday is 35 days, do they usually go longer or shorter then that?
