Thank you - that of course is always a concern and worth finding out cause of death if it is something that could effect the whole flock.

I'm so sorry you lots your girl. 10 months seems very young to have got fatty liver, I would have thought it would take longer than that or be an older hens issue but obviously not!

I think so as well but as I said I ASSUMED it was the same with her given the quick death and no other obvious cause. Too cold outside to do a necropsy and not bringing a dead chicken into the house for that purpose. Don't really have a decent place to do it anyway other than the dining room table and I'm SURE that wouldn't go over well.
