my first ostrich egg...

You may want to upgrade to an incubator with a fan, those big eggs give off a LOT of carbon dioxide which can asphyxiate them. Carbon dioxide is heavier than air so it'll settle down at the bottom of the incubator.
i plan on adding a fan sometime this weekend ... checked a couple of posts here (couldn't find the one that i was looking for) and it seems easy enough with a pc fan and phone charger .... any reccomendations on placement? ...and being that CO2 is heavier than air, do you think it'd be beneficial to drill a hole or two on the bottom sides of the bator?

Hi, Johnskoi!!

No, you are among friends here. We folk here at BYC are – wa ha ha – used to queries of the most particular kind.

So, good luck.

With the fan in place the CO2 won't have much time to leak out through holes in the bottom as it'll be getting kicked around and mixed with the oxygen.

My incubator has a built in fan placed over a hole in the top, so you might do something similar and place a fan over one of the vents with the red plugs in your incubator.
