Hello all, I just bought my first trio of peafowl. I got them from a woman at the Oklahoma State Poultry Federation Poultry Show at Shawnee, Oklahoma, who has their parents. They were hatched and raised by their momma peahen this spring, so are somewhat flighty. I hope they adjust well to their new home.

Nice trio of blue blackshoulder.......so they will be easier to tame down. It will take some time peafowl are strange as they take some time to accept new places and people. Just start getting them come to you for food. Fastest way is not to put feed out in front of them 24/7. Hungar will make them come to the person feeding them. Oh peafowl only eat about what a chicken eats. Another way ,takes little longer , keep feed in front of them 24/7 but hand feed treats.

They do remember ,and will be upset after being caught and etc.....Mine would even run when they saw the landing net......which i caught them 2 times a year.

My, that male BS looks very dark, like black even, must be the lighting with the photo.
With getting them pretty young they should adapt pretty quickly.
When you get them in a pen where you can get in there too, be sure to move slowly and just hang out with them. Talk to them and toss their treats regularly, getting the treats closer to you gradually. They will learn quickly to accept treats like unshelled peanuts, sun seed, and small bits of fruit.
You will love them & their quirky ways!!!!
Good luck & we will want to see more pics......
