My first Quail Hatch!

@Joaov. Congrats, looks like a really healthy bunch of chicks. I'm at 30 out as at this evening. I'm in South Africa by the way. Our weather is beginning to turn so humidity changes seemed to have effected my hatch rate. I must be honest, in the year i've been breeding rain Quails/Coturnix, i've never left them in longer than 6-8 hours even if others are still pipping. I learned that if I open the bator to remove a batch, I can place a little warm water in my tray to pick the humidity up again quickly as not to cause shrink wrapping to those still pipping. Seems to work.

Thank you @Jules-quails ! Yea that is what i did.. took them out yesterday at night and my humidity didnt change much! and they are the cutest things even though one has a curled toe, im debating whether to attempt fixing it or just letting it be. its one of the most active ones and the first one to find the feeder and waterer so he is surviving fine

Unfortunately the bent toe or foot does happen from time to time. Their little feet are so delicate to try any fixing. I usually leave it and hope for the best. The first one I had with a deformed foot sent me into a panic but I quickly learned not to try fix it. At some point you must try get your hands on some button Quail eggs. They are sooooo tiny when they hatch. I put Coturnix and Buttons in together once. Their hatching time is the same but oh so cute. :)

Oh and one other word of advice, make sure there are NO pieces of loose cotton on your cloth in the brooder. They little mites try to eat it and it can also get tangled around their feet. Both end up in disaster.

Well, good news on my front. Suddenly two days late, all my eggs be hatching. Like one every five minutes!
If I could post pics from my phone I would, best I can do is links from my Onedrive.

No, other than was told the difference in elevation from where they came from may have delayed it. At this point I don't care, lol, they are hatching.

Wow, I have a lot of birds. I have had to help nine so far because they couldn't unzip more than a quarter inch. I have been pealing off the egg and membrane just enough for them to get the tips of their feet out and putting them back in the Bator. So far all are doing well except one looks like one wing is not functioning correctly.

I am awaiting my first hatch. I got into hatching poutlry by accident. We only have a tiny backyard. I have always had chhoks but they have always been bought at point of lay. Last year I went to a friend's who had turkeys.... she gave me some eggs. I bought a cheap incubator online and hatched a coupke of blue slate turkeys. One died so we were left with one. He is magnificant. Luckily, just 21 days after he was born we hatched some Austrolaups in the incubator and they became his "minions". Now I have quails due tomorrow. I bought the eggs online. We'll see what success I have. I am hopeful.
