My first Quail Hatch!

Here are mine that hatched on the 1st of April.

Ended up with 23 out of 50. This was my very first attempt at hatching my own, so not too bad, althought I was hoping for a much higher hatch rate. Regardless, this was a good first hatch and I'm not complaining. I had to help quite a few out - about 8 of them, but only after they unzipped and just sat there for hours and hours (about 6-8 hours). I figured by then, they were detached from the membrane enough to be 'helped'

. Every single one is doing awesome, absolutely no issues.

What I did was pull the egg open a little and leave it be. Then, I would go back in after another hour and open the egg more, then do it again if he still couldn't quick kick it hard enough to get out. Once baby fell out and was kicking around - all was well!

All that hatched are doing great and zooming around in the brooder!!!

Wow, they are so fast!

5 weeks from march 26? we must have different calendars. Wednesday,7 May would have been 6 weeks.
