My first rant.

Not the P.O.'s fault Ups and Fed-x both do drop shipments to the P.O. and we do the last mile. Why they would drop ship one and not the other is silly. The only thing I can think of is maybe the one that was delivered was shipped at a different rate. It does seem to me that if UPS is gonna use the P.O. That the P.O. must have the better rate.

Some companies contract with FedEx or UPS to use their service in conjunction with USPS. OR some sort of combination thereof.

For example, when I order from Knit Picks for my yarn shop, it comes to me via Fed-Ex Smart post.

That means it comes allll the way to my town via Fed Ex, who drops it at the PO so it can get delivered the next day.
If Knit Picks would just ship it USPS, it would take 2 or 3 days to get here instead of 10. That would make sense.

Sent my son a Birthday card at Ft. Leonardwood Mo. I forgot that he moved to another house ON THE SAME STREET, and I got the card back in the mail today.

I used to be a delivery guy for Airborne Express, back before they got bought out by DHL. I took a lot of packages to the postoffice...some were part of shipments that were at houses that I were already going to. I never understood it. Asked my manager about it one day. He said that Airborne Express paid the PO to take some of the packages, that weren't apart of an "express" shipment. (Express meaning before noon on a given day. Usually part of a 2 day order.)

Most the packages were from Amazon, or other large mail order companies, I noticed. And all were apart of ground shipments.

My guess is that Amazon, for example, could charge more for shipping, Airborne would get a bigger cut, pay the PO to deliver the home deliveries, yet still make money off Amazon and not have to spend much time on home deliveries. I dont know. I'm sure whatever the reason, it didn't have anything to do with improving customer satisfaction...but what does anymore?

Read some of my posts Ken I will show you a proper rant.

Some times UPS or Fedex will leave a package with the local P.O. if they cannot find the address.
