My FIRST Siilkie Pair!!!!

Thank you!
Yes, I would like to get into showing Silkies off, I know they were very nice looking boys, but I knew there coloring wasn't going to be"spot on". What is Pyle defined as? I have never heard that term before, I am very curious.

I am trying to get back into showing also... I loved 4H as a child. :)

I wouldn't be the person to know but I'm sure a lot of people here would. Someone here on BYC said there is no pyle in Silkies because the red is on the chest not the wings and that coloring term is incorrect...they were also speaking of OEGBs...not Silkies; two different breeds entirely. In any case, the reason I said it looks pyle is because if you google pyle silkie you'll find pictures of ones that look extremely similar to yours, and the link I posted is very similar as well.

I'm not exactly sure what I would call that coloring if it were a standard variety of a Silkie. =] Someone...somewhere...called them pyle once and now other people are...doesn't make it correct, it just makes it recognizable from other colors. If I knew a LOT about breeding Silkies (which I don't) I might *consider* the notion of starting a project breeding with them, but I'd bring them up to par with the SOP first in other aspects apart from coloring.

They really are pretty.

They are not pyle and they are not partridge and they are not porcelain. Pyle is BBR with white replacing the black. Partridge has NO silver. Porcelain is a VERY DILUTE colouring of ALL feather pigment.

They are not a standard colour, although there are similar appearing silkies out there. I have a few that are quite similar. If you want to show, you need recognized varieties, or to work towards breeding birds with a consistent predictable appearance (a project).

Ok, I adopted another pair today.....
