This is my first try at building a chicken tractor. It is 8ftx8ft. Before i was done framing i found some flaws and other ways to build it that would have been better and im really not too great at figuring out what angles to cut the wood but i think i did a really good job. i reinforced the crap out of it and it works like a charm.
I was going to put 1/2" hardware cloth in the bottom of the enclosed area but i can never find a thicker gauge hardware cloth and the crap they sell at home depot and lowes is too thin so i used a heavy plastic hardware cloth. It seems like it should hold up nice and it wont be so rough on the chickens feet. Most of the materials i used i had laying around so it didn't cost me much to build it. I used a 2x4" wire i had lying around because it is stronger than chicken wire and....well.. because i already had a roll of it.
So tell me....What do you think of my first chicken tractor?
