Ive had em around a month or so now, not a ton of eggs from them, but Im hoping once they settle in a little more theyll start laying more again.
I kept moving them from cage to cage the first few weeks, and I think I spooked em.

But every egg Ive gotten so far has good development, so I got that going for me!

Awesome! congrats on the license, I ve been wating to get one, now that I own gambles I guess I have to get one, been wanting to get a ringneck pheasant to but havent cuz for that you need a license too.
And hopefully all your chicks hatch!

No hatches yesterday, but Im not givin up yet.

Hopefully they are still alive in there.

My wild turkey didnt hatch either . . .

But I did find a good gamebird breeder fairly close by, and I plan on getting a bunch more valley eggs, and a bunch of chukar eggs.

The quail eggs hatched!!!
All in about 10 mins, only 11/12 hatched but thats pretty good!
I kinda gave up on them, but kept peeking thruought the day, finally on a peek I saw the eggs had tumbled off the rack.
Within 10 minutes or so, all 11 were out and runnin

Day 2 and they are looking great!
I have seen all of them eat, and most of them drink.

I did the beak dip and pecked my finger on the food.

They are sooo tiny tho, and I have a feeling they wont grow as fast as the coturnix did.
One has already slipped thru the bars of the brooder, which is basically a rodent cage mostly covered in styrofoam.

I dont really know how to describe their behavior, its a little flighty/frightened but mostly they just want out.
They constantly try to get between the bars of the brooder.
They are not really afraid of me, but may even think Im their "mom" because they dont mind my hands or face close to them.
It just seems like they are desperate to get out of there.

They are really, really frickin cute tho . . .

Oh yeah im guessing this things behave more like my little gambles, theyre totally different than coturnix, my three week old coturnix were never really afraid of me even now I let them out in the yard by themselves and they play around and then at night I put them back in, but my gambles babies there the opposite side of the spectrum, they are terrefied of me and if I let one out of the brooder she runs everywhere like crazy. Oh and about the growing part they dont grow nearly as fast as the coturnix, mine are a week old and there not nearly as big as how my coturnix were when they were a week old, they look almost exactly the same as when they came out of the shell.

Oh and BTW the 11/12 hatch its relly great! congrats!
