I got some quail last week I started late with them but thire young not fully grown any tips and hints for me... Is it ok to feed them chick starter while they are young then leave them on finisher and grower .

Using chick starter for quail is asking for health and cannibalism problems. They need 24-30% protein.

Ask in a feed store what's the max protein mix they carry. I ordered mine from amazon - Manna Pro Gamebird Showbird. Most feed stores carry a turkey starter which is suitable for quail chicks.

Turkey starter will be the most commonly available high protein feed and is usually in the 27% range. Bobs will go cannibal for a lot of things but feed quality isn't one. I know a large shooting preserve producer who feeds their bobs 22% chick starter until 8 weeks then switches to 16% chicken feed. The birds look like crap and I'd never recommend it but they don't eat each other. Space, heat, and light are the things that will commonly cause cannibalism in bobs.
