My first!!!!!

At 2:30 this afternoon, I ventured out to the coop to check on their water--cuz it's HOT! Put the new fan in the window and turned to leave and there next to the large, purple, wooden egg lay a small medium brown egg.. I was so thrilled --


1. It's MY very first ever egg.
2. they are 24 weeks old, I was almost beggin'
3. It was in the nest box!!!

I put the egg back into the nestbox and will leave it for my 2yr old grandson to 'find' when he gets up from his nap!!!!!

Oh, what fun!! It was like finding it twice.. Grandson was thrilled--but he couldn't reach the egg, in the top nest box--he was squealing and jumping up and down (Granny didn't think to put it in the lower nest box)! But he was showing it to everyone and telling them it was his egg.. I will fix it for his breakfast on Monday!! He didn't want to go home---so we made his daddy, Papa and Auntie sit with us while our chickens got to free range for the very first time..

It's been a wonderful day!! First egg, a safe first free range and the joy of a sweet angel!

LOL Our grandson also wanted to carry it into the house, wanted to show it to everyone and I was scared to start off with....but decided "It was an egg", if he dropped it or broke it--there would be others and I would survive!! LOL>.. But I must admit it was hard to let him go running with the egg in his little hand...
