This is Ivey she is sitting on 12 eggs ,3 has hatched today. So happy this is the firt time she has hatched then herself. I have seen them they are so quite. She has hatched duck eggs, but this is her firt time with chicken eggs. I'm going to let her look after them. When do I put them in the main pen with the rest, I have separate the run so they will have there space, till they are order.

You can let the mama and chicks in with the flock right away. The mama should protect the chicks from an aggressive hens. Just feed the whole flock the chick feed that is for the chicks, and have some oyster shell in a spearate bowl for any laying hens who want it.

Thanks for that I will. I will try and get some more pics when she lets me see them she is very protective with them at the moment. I have made a area for them with a house, it is water tight for them the run is not covered from the weather, yet should I cover it from the rain!

Protecting the run from rain would give them a little more freedom, and help the mama with her task of teaching them to forage, besides giving them more living space, especially if their hose is small. But if they can get inside out of the rain anytime they wish, it isn't a necessity.

Hi we are going to put the roof on the run tomorrow, and move the house in tonight when the other girls have gone to beb. Fingers cross they all should be in there new home tomorrow.
