Hi I am a new member of BYC. My queens are almost six months and lays eggs. Two of them however lay eggs with either very soft shell or no she'll at all . Just membrane with the yolk and egg white intact.

Hello

and Welcome to BYC!
Here is a GREAT article that could probably help you fix your problem: Common Egg Quality Problems. I hope all goes well!

Are you providing them with crushed oyster shell to eat whenever they feel the need? That can often take care of the soft shells.

Good luck to you, thanks for joining us!

There are a number of causes of soft or shell less eggs, but the most common are:

-inadequate calcium in the diet

-inadequate nutrition - too many treats and not enough high quality layer feed

-stress - bullying in the flock

If any of these fit your situation then correct those and likely the eggs will improve.

Adding oyster shell can help. It is common with new layers for them to lay odd eggs, though. If it does not improve over time, then it is a calcium deficiency, but for now you can add oyster shell just in case.

Glad you joined!

X2 - though in your particular situation it sounds like the most likely "cause" is simply that you have new layers whos' systems are still working on getting all the moving parts involved in the production of eggs working in sync with each other to build complete, shelled eggs.
