My Flock.......and the heat!

I have all the birds I can handle right now.....but I want some Doms.....they are just gorgous to me.

I just came in from misting my birds and they really didn't mind it.

They have taken care if the watermelon rhine I filled with water earlier. I left some red in it and filled it with cool water.

I will try the yogurt this evening.......My husband just laughs at me......he said as long as I have something to mother I am happy....

I have 11 pullets, one cockerel and 13 dogs of various sizes and I am bottle feeding four pups.

And loving it all!

I tried yogurt and sliced grapes at lunch. Two of them tried it and then went to the waterer in which I had placed ice. But my largest, Chicken Jo, and my smallest, Spunky, loved it. They would eat the yogurt and then find a grape buried inside and run off with it. The others would try to figure out what it was, as they gobbled it up. Eventually, Chicken Matthews

, my one-winger, became interested and started digging in as well.

After they ate about half of it, I took it up. This is the first time they've had it and I didn't want them to get sick. Chicken Jo would NOT stop eating it - she seemed to love the yogurt, immersing her beak in and sucking it up. Then she'd stand up and look around with a white beak, until she'd go back at it.

I don't guess the yogurt would last too long in this heat - it's now 101 here - so I put it in the fridge and they'll get more later this PM.

Thanks for the yogurt/grapes suggestion. First time I've every REALLY seen them enjoy anything other than oatmeal.

I gave mine some half-frozen blackberries with buttermilk poured in it. They love anything with yogurt or buttermilk or fruit. I have blackberries still frozen from picking them two years ago, so they can have all they want, short of them getting extremely runny poop from eating too many, LOL. And I can't think of much that's more refreshing on a hot day.

Our heat wave broke this afternoon!! I gave a prayer of thanks. I hope everyone is feeling some relief now? Forecast is for the low 90's all next week. I will take that over the 100+'s any day. Hope you all are doing ok now.
