My Flock Had Some Visitors Today

Up here, we have about a big flock of what looks like 20 or lower turkeys that come by every now and then. The woods, downback, or the driveway have a few. They wild turkeys. One time we had 4 turkeys and they were young. 1 female, 3 males. Guess what? There are a couple of them roosting in the tree a few days later. Yep.

Mobs of Cockatoos are fine with me too :) we have an old tree out the front that Cockatoos and Galas nest in. There's a half-dozen Kookaburras that laugh with the Roosters in the morning. A pair of Wonga Pidgeons that forage around the yard, and some Crested Pidgeons that keep getting themselves trapped in the coop!

All 17 hens and 4 roosters have festive names :)

Gingerbread - ISA Brown - White highlights
Baby it's Cold Outside - Australorp X RIR
Frosty - White Leghorn
Candy-cane - ISA Brown - Brown highlights
Mrs Clause - Rhode Island Red

Mulled Wyandotte (Mulley) - Gold Wyandotte
Pine-cona (Piney) - Red Ancona

Snowflake II - Silkie Black
Tinsel - Silkie Grey

Scroogey - Blue Based Araucana
Grinchey - Lavender Araucana
Pudding - Marans - no foot-feathers
Pie - Marans - with foot-feathers

Mary - Silver Laced Wyandotte
Carol - Buff Leghorn
Noel - ISA Brown - white laced neck
Zooey Deschanel - the other ISA Brown

Dasher - White rooster split tail feathers
Dancer - White rooster solid tail feathers
Prancer - Black rooster brown chest
Vixen - Black rooster great tail feathers

I need names for my two new turkeys. One Black and one Blue Slate. If you can think of an unused festive name, feel free to name 'em!
FABULOUS names!!
What’s Christmas without “Charlie Brown”!? Rudolf... Holly... Mistletoe... Little Drummer Boy... Nativity... Fruitcake... Cindy Lou Who... Egg Nog (perfect for a hen;))...... sorry, I got carried away!.. I LOVE Christmas :love:love:love

I've decided to go with Miss Jingle and Miss Kringle :) but I'll be keeping all those names in mind. My SLW has hatched 10/14 eggs the past two days, so I'll be needing more once I decide which I'm going to keep. 5/6 French Wheaton Marans, 5/6 Barnevelders, and 0/2 Onagadori's have hatched so far. The Onagadori's were put under her a couple of days later as they were a last minute source, so hopefully they'll be OK.

I LOVE Christmas

Hah! Who doesn't? We have a 7 week old son (our first) and can't wait to spend our first Christmas with him :)

They are so cool - I didn't even know about them - not something we had hanging around at Cowra :lau:lau I do remember the horrible Ibis from when we lived in Hervey Bay for a few years - yuckky things - although was pretty exciting the first time I spotted them in the garden!

There'd be Brush Turkey's up at Hervey Bay, but I doubt you'd see any at Cowra. I spent a lot of time in the greater Riverina as a kid and saw a fair few Emu's though, so that's pretty nice.

the chick is beautiful

Agreed! I'm planning on tracking down some of their nests (massive compost mounds; shouldn't be hard to spot) so I can camp out to see some of the chicks leave the nests :)
