Where is Nifty?! I expected him to be all over this post. He likes to tinker with stuff and had been working on an automatic door awhile back.

GREAT STUFF!!! I had an idea; maybe you could make an automatic egg conveyor to remove eggs from a laying box? You could use a motion detector in the box and when the hen left the box it would trigger the floor to tilt and roll the egg into the back and onto the conveyor that moves the egg out of the box.

I love the chicken waterer but the conservationist in me notices that it seems to waste a lot of water by dumping each night.

My husband and I are going to try to make an automatic waterer with float system. Think along the lines of how your toilet works. RIght? Then we are thinking of using the chicken nipple/5 gallon bucket method to be the holding tank.


The door is brilliant.
