My fully loaded chicken coop video

:) I bet it's an issue to the bottom rung of the pecking order whether you really notice it or not. Most everyone is hungry at the same time - and all day long! lol. :) Just saying. I spend alot of time watching and learning about chicken behavior and I'd hate to think how long someone has to wait to get to that feeder. Either way, it can't hurt to have access to another feeder...it doesn't have to be as fancy as that one. :) I bet you can figure out something

Well, you have peaked my interest. At the very least, I will monitor them for the next several days to see if the food is being guarded. I have not noticed any of that up until this point, but if I get any indication that the bottom half is being neglected, I'll add an additional feeder. Thanks for the advice.

I liked the video, and also liked your feeder idea. Thanks for the wonderful ideas. I'm building my first coop this week. Nothing as fine as yours but serviceable
I may actually do a part 2 video at some point. I also added an attached covered area behind the coop, giving the girls someplace to hide or just get out of the sun, snow or rain.

building my first coop too, thanks for the ideas
I think many of these ideas work. As I stated somewhere, the basic coop itself I purchased. Could of built it, but my laziness got the best of me. All the upgrades were mine, from previous experiences. One thing I will say, make sure your overhang on the front of the coop hangs completely over your nesting box. This coop is poorly designed in that regard. The snow or rain, fall onto the nesting box lid. I'll be adding a metal roof to that section in the very near future to fix that.

I've been waiting for spring break and a break in the rain. I am going to start building my coop today. It's not sunny, but it's not raining either! Gotta love Oregon's non rainy days! Pictures to come as I get them and a round of Cap'n and coke as well!

Make sure your upper coop roof covers your nesting boxes.
