Hi
Last night a ground hog got into the girls coop, I don't know how It was sealed. there was allot of fighting and a soon a I sown the flashlight he manage to jump out of the nst box even witht he large brick on it.
Amazingly no one was killed, but this morning one was hiding but came out shortly after to eat then hid again, I just saw her out now to drink and it appears her wing is hanging a bit, not all the way but just a little it is not flapping either, she seems to be holding it up, how do I know if it is broken? If it is what do I do?
If it is just a sprain how can I tell, or can I tell. She is not the most friendly and will no let me near her normally so now she just walked away as soon as I opened the door.
Thanks for any help I can get. She is 5 years old or older if that makes a difference

Aww I'm sorry that happened

I hope she get's better. Could you try to get a pic of her so I can see what happened to the wing?

Well if she won't let you near her to check her out, for now put some vitamins/electrolytes in the water source. Then tonight when she's roosting, get her, check her over and isolate her if you need to.

Good luck with her

Wow! Never heard of a groundhog (Or whistlepigs as they are called here) bothering a chicken. We've had a family denning in the corner of our property for years in the area when the chickens free range everyday including our growing young stock.

Hope your hen's wing gets better.

To be honest I am not sure, it was sort of cute? it did not have a long snout. It was pretty plump and fluffy, could it have been after the eggs? and not the hens?
What else could it be?

Ok I just looked up pics on Badger, opossum, skunk and hedgehog and it did not look like any of them, but it was sort of like a hedghog maybe the way I looked at it i cold not see the long snoot.
