My girl went in for a spay this morning...

Good to hear she did well so far! Speedy recovery! One of my gals had surgery (crop surgery, easier than spay) and I was very stressed about it but she recovered remarkably well! 2 years later she is still in great shape! Keeping fingers crossed for Winnie!

That's so good to hear! I'm glad the crop surgery went well. Gives me hope that these birds are as tough as I think they are :)

I actually joined this site just to comment on that thread last week! I was such a wreck last Wednesday and found that thread online. It helped a lot in our decision. Like I mentioned above, we are so lucky to have an experienced bird vet in our area. And I was shocked to hear that they do this about once a month. I'll make sure to update on her progress here in the next few days and weeks.
Congrats! I'm glad to hear things went well.

How is she doing?

She seems to be doing well! She’s staying inside for 10 days, has a big appetite and constantly wants to go outside. I think she misses her bff, Olive. They sit on either side of the sliding glass door grooming and laying together. She gets an antibiotic and an anti-inflammatory every day along with lots of healthy treats to keep her loaded with nutrients and to help keep her weight up. Unfortunately she just started a molt so between that and the feathers removed for the surgery, she’s pretty funny looking right now.

We’re keeping a close eye on her and are hoping she continues to do well :)

Wanted to add one new development that keeps me optimistic: Pre-surgery, Winnie made the cutest purring sounds when she was happy. She finally started that up again this morning and it seemed everything made her happy: seeing Olive though the sliding glass door, watching me make her breakfast mash, and napping/perching on her water bowl. I loved hearing those sounds because she's actively telling me how she's feeling! Day by day, she seems to be getting back to her normal self :)

Did they just remove the ovary?

They removed the whole oviduct but not the ovary because of its proximity to the aorta. Although my vet did say that they've been able to remove the ovary in a previous surgery but that is very rare. She currently has a birth control implant to prevent the ovary from making new yolks.
