My girls don't particularly like to be picked up, but they like me to pet them or hold them on THEIR terms. I put them out of the bathroom and into the coop at 12 weeks, so they were quite used to my handling them. I go out every day when I let them out for the day and sit in the grass and they walk all over me. I can inspect them then and they are ok with it. But, if I go after them, forget about it! If I sit down, they will come to me and get on my lap and lay down. This becomes quite hilarious being that I have 12 of them. I have found that they are quite cooperative when things are done on their terms and they don't feel threatened.
