My girls have started watermarking their eggs!

First egg as my freeloaders are wrapping up their Autumn Molt. It appears she wanted to leave her mark! Any idea what this raised swirl is? Safe to eat? She seems healthy enough…

Not unusual for hens to lay weird eggs when coming back into lay, probably just extra calcium. Perfectly safe to eat

I think it could be the shell did not form properly? Sometimes my shells have bumps on them, not quite like that though. I eat those eggs and they appear just fine.

It’s extra calcium. I’ve had a couple hens that always had a little extra on top and some that had it occasionally. Nothing to worry about. What are you feeding them?
