My girls love the nesting box HELP

one of my hens the last couple of nights has been using the nesting box for sleeping, I am thinking that it is because it is more sheltered and it is warmer as it is full of wood chips.

Maybe she is broody?

maybe something simple like cardboard?

Agreed - anything that simply blocks them off. Even some spare chicken wire is another possibility. Doesn't need to be pretty - it just has to do the job!
My coop (shed) consists of a few bits of wood, some tree branches for roosts and plastic basins for nest boxes - not quite the Ritz but is does the job.

well maybe. she is only in the nest box at night though, in the day she is ranging around with the rest of them. If they are broody don't they just want to stay in there all the time? I haven't had one do that yet, but I've only had chickens since May

We put a piece of plywood in front of the nest boxes at night and took it out in the morning. That and building a bettersized roost seem to be what did the trick for us.

Ah, seems like she has just picked up a bad habit since she is out and about during the day. As SusanD and others have said on this thread - block the nesting boxes off after they have laid and all night.
